The Comp

Is the competition that the A-Team will go to and compete in. It will be in April (date still being decided) at Shippensburg University. There are 5 events in all at the competition. The events are; APFT, first aid/litter carry, land navigation, one rope bridge, and a 3K team run. The APFT consists of push-ups which you get 2 minutes to do as many as you can, of sit-ups which you also get 2 minutes to do as many as you can, and a timed 2-mile run.

For the first aid portion, each cadet on the A-Team will be given a specific job. There are seven: evaluate a casualty, CPR, bleeding, shock, fracture, and burns.

Then the litter carry in which you carry a dummy on a stretcher weighing around 135 pounds. It will be carried to a point about 50 yards away and then back to the start again. That will be done twice (there, back, there, back).

During land navigation, a compass is used and points are given which have to be found in order as quickly as possible.

During 1 rope bridge, the A-Team will each be given a small rope to tie a swiss seat which is a harness for them. The team as a whole will be given 5 minutes to properly complete this task. Then they will have to untangle a long rope that they will be given. Putting it in a serpentine. Then with the long rope, they will need to make a "bridge" by tieing it between two trees on either end of a certain distance of space. Then the team members will connect their swiss seat to the "bridge" and pull themselves one by one across, trying not to touch the water.

The last event is where the A-Team will run a team 3K which is 1.864 miles long.
